Fixed-price software work, proven before it ships

AI writes code fast. I make sure it's right.

I fix, upgrade and finish production web and mobile apps. Since 2021 I've been the engineer behind a live SaaS platform. This year I used Claude to move its backend from PHP to Java while customers kept using it.

Each of 137 endpoints has to return the same responses, auth failures and validation errors as the PHP original before any traffic moves to it.

Services

Six jobs, each with a fixed price

Every job starts with a written scope and a price. The prices below are the smallest size of each job.

  • Fix and harden your AI-built app

An audit of an app built with Lovable, Bolt, Replit or Cursor, covering security, data, payments and deployment, ranked by risk. Larger sizes include the fixes.

    from $7503 days
  • Upgrade your Expo app

I move your app to the current Expo SDK, replace libraries that no longer work, and test the iOS and Android builds.

    from $9004 days
  • End-to-end tests for your web app

Playwright tests for your key flows, such as sign-up, login and checkout, set to run on every push.

    from $8004 days
  • Connect Claude to your product

An MCP server that gives Claude safe, specific tools over your API or database, for your team or your customers.

    from $1,0005 days
  • Plan your legacy migration

Every live endpoint mapped, dead routes flagged, and a phased plan with a fixed price per phase. Bigger tiers add the parity harness and a pilot.

    from $1,5005 days
  • Make your team's AI coding trustworthy

I set up instructions for the agent, tests it has to pass, a review gate before merge, and checks in CI.

    from $1,5005 days

For other work, describe it and I'll quote it the same way.

Work

What I've built, and how it was proven

PRINTgenie · 2023 to now

Moving a live backend from PHP to Java

The problem
PRINTgenie, a direct-mail marketing platform for real-estate professionals, ran on a Laravel API that was getting harder to change. Paying customers used it every day.
What I did
Rebuilt 137 endpoints as Java plugins on AWS (S3, SQS, Terraform). Repointed the React frontend one endpoint at a time, then retired the Laravel routes left behind.
How it was proven
A parity harness compares each endpoint with the PHP original, including auth failures and validation errors. Audit tooling lists every endpoint the live system serves and flags drift from the plan. The QA team signs off each release.

Keeping a field app current

The problem
Real-estate professionals use the company's Expo app out in the field. It has to keep up with SDK releases and app store rules without breaking for them.
What I did
Lead developer, with about 75% of the app's commits. Releases through EAS, crash monitoring with Sentry, and SDK upgrades through Expo 57 and React Native 0.86.
How it was proven
QA tests real iOS and Android builds before each release, and Sentry shows what users actually hit.

Holodeck · 2026

An AI dev team with guardrails

The problem
I wanted AI coding agents that could work unattended for hours without drifting off task, overspending or breaking the build.
What I did
Built a system of specialist agents that take work by voice or Discord. Each one works in its own git worktree, passes review gates before its work merges, and runs under spend metering, a concurrency limit and a time limit.
How it was proven
About 7,000 commits, more than 1,300 merged pull requests and more than 600 test files in four months. Since September, every change has reached the main branch through a pull request and automated gates.

How it works

From first email to finished work

  1. You tell me what's broken or what you need. A paragraph is enough.
  2. I reply with a fixed price, a timeline and written acceptance criteria, so "done" means the same thing to both of us.
  3. You pay a 50% deposit. If you'd rather hold funds in escrow, we can use Contra or Escrow.com.
  4. I work in your repository, with tests, and send short written updates.
  5. You check the work against the criteria. The balance is due on delivery, and the code is yours once it's paid.

I build with AI coding agents, mainly Claude, and I review and test everything they write before you see it.

About

Jared Cover

I've been the engineer behind PRINTgenie since 2021, across its React web app, its Laravel and Java APIs on AWS, and its Expo mobile app. Before AI coding tools existed I learned the slow way, reading every error and fixing it by hand. That's how I can tell when an AI is wrong.

Now I build with Claude every day. I write tests before I trust a result, and I ship nothing I haven't checked. I work on my own, in writing, at a fixed price, and every change comes with the tests that show it works.
